Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Lens Latitude (“Lens Latitude,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, listings, messaging, booking tools, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”), how we use and disclose it, the choices and rights available to you, and how we protect it. It is designed to comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation, including Quebec’s Law 25. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Personal Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
We collect information you provide directly, including your name, date of birth, gender, email address, phone number, account credentials, profile details, and preferred name. When you list or book gear, we collect listing details, booking details, messages you exchange with other users, and any photographs, descriptions, or documents you upload. To support identity, ownership, and insurance verification, we may collect government-identification details and certificate-of-insurance information. Payment-related information is collected and processed by our payment providers on our behalf.
Information we collect automatically
When you use the Platform, we automatically collect certain information, including device and browser details, IP address, approximate location derived from your device or network, pages and listings viewed, searches, time spent, and interactions with features. We collect this information using first-party cookies, local storage, and similar technologies, as described in our Cookie Policy and in the section below.
Information from third-party sources
We may receive information from third parties such as identity- and insurance-verification providers, fraud-prevention and risk services, payment processors, mapping and analytics providers, and, where you choose to use them, login or social platforms. We combine this information with what we collect directly to operate the Platform and protect our community.
2. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to: create and manage accounts; publish listings and facilitate bookings, pickups, returns, and communications between Hosts and Renters; process payments, deposits, payouts, and refunds; verify identity, ownership, and insurance; prevent, detect, and investigate fraud, abuse, and safety issues; provide customer support and resolve disputes; operate, maintain, personalize, and improve the Platform; conduct research and analytics; send service and transactional communications; and, where permitted, send marketing communications. We also use personal information to comply with legal obligations and to enforce our Terms of Service and policies. We rely on consent, the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate business interests, and legal obligations as the bases for these uses, as applicable.
3. How We Disclose Personal Information
We disclose limited personal information between Hosts and Renters when necessary to facilitate a booking, pickup, return, communication, claim, or dispute. Certain profile, listing, and review information is visible to other users by design. We share information with service providers that help us operate the Platform — including payment processors, hosting and infrastructure providers, identity- and insurance-verification vendors, fraud-prevention services, analytics providers, customer-support tools, and communications providers — under contracts that require them to protect the information and use it only for the services they provide to us. We may share information with professional advisors, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards. We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lens Latitude, our users, or the public, or to respond to lawful requests and legal process. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Your Rights and Choices
You may review, update, or correct much of your profile and account information through platform settings. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the instructions in those messages; we may still send you service and transactional communications. Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, request that we stop or limit certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and request information about how your data is handled. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in the “Contact and Privacy Officer” section. We will respond within the timeframes required by law, and we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some information may be retained where necessary for legal, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, dispute-resolution, or enforcement purposes.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Lens Latitude uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, preserve your cart, measure traffic, understand product usage, and support advertising measurement. Our cookies fall into three tiers. Essential cookies keep you signed in and preserve your cart; the Platform cannot function without them and they are always active. Analytics cookies are first-party only: a random identifier lets us understand how the site is used solely to improve the Platform. Marketing cookies are set by third parties (such as Google) to measure our advertising. You can turn the analytics and marketing tiers off at any time using the “Manage” option in the cookie notice or the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer. For full details, see our Cookie Policy. Analytics and marketing data are never sold.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for notifying us promptly of any suspected compromise of your account.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform, fulfil the purposes described in this policy, comply with our legal and operational obligations, resolve disputes, prevent and investigate fraud and misuse, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the applicable legal requirements.
8. Cross-Border Transfers
Lens Latitude is based in Canada, and we and our service providers may store and process personal information in Canada and in other countries. Where information is transferred outside your province or country, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access by courts, law enforcement, and government authorities. We take reasonable steps to ensure that transferred information receives a comparable level of protection, and, where required, we implement contractual and other safeguards consistent with applicable privacy law.
9. Children and Sensitive Information
The Platform is intended for adults who can enter into binding contracts and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals who are not legally permitted to use the service. Unless we specifically request it for verification or legal purposes, you should not send sensitive personal information through the Platform. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Third-Party Services
The Platform may integrate with or link to third-party services, including login providers, payment services, maps, hosting tools, and analytics providers. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies, and Lens Latitude is not responsible for how third parties collect, use, or disclose information outside of our service. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party service you use.
11. Your Canadian Privacy Rights
If you are located in Canada, you have rights under PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy laws, including Quebec’s Law 25 and the personal-information protection statutes of British Columbia and Alberta. These may include the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccuracies, to withdraw consent (subject to legal or contractual restrictions), and to be informed of the purposes for which your information is collected, used, and disclosed. In Quebec, you may also have rights relating to the automated processing of your information and to data portability, and you may lodge a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information. If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy request, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy regulator.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting a revised version on the Platform and updating the “Last updated” date. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Platform after the revised policy takes effect indicates your acceptance of it.
13. Contact and Privacy Officer
If you have questions, requests, or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our handling of your personal information, or if you wish to reach our Privacy Officer, please contact us through the support and contact methods made available on the Platform, including our Contact Us page. We will address privacy inquiries in accordance with applicable law.
